What We Do

We fly airplanes - if we have them or rent if we have to. Some of us are doing what has become popular in the last 10 to 15 years, and that is to build our own aircraft from plans or kits. Some members join us to learn or get up some enthusiasm along these lines. We hold monthly meetings on the last Saturday of each month at 9:00am. We also hold additional sessions for those members building aircraft.

We are very active in the “Young Eagles” program, introducing youngsters to aviation. At a Young Eagles rally, the participants are briefed on flying, will inspect a plane and then are given a ride over the local area. This event is for kids aged 8 to 17 years. Chapter 1071 also holds "Golden Eagles" rallys at which the flights are for kids aged 50 or over, and their elders.

We also sponsor Explorer Post 130 in the Shenandoah Area Council for those interested in aviation.  Currentlyt we do not have any young members who have signed up
